  10. We had a problem with the starter jamming on my wife's '84 Buick Skyhawk.
  11. Turned out the ring gear had been installed backwards *at the factory*.  The
  12. ramped edge of the gear was facing *away* from the starter.  Amazing it worked
  13. as well as it did.  I still have that flywheel up on the wall in my office.

  15. I don't know if it should have grease on it or not.  The job was done by
  16. someone else, back in the days before I started doing all my own work.
  17. Probably couldn't hurt.
