- We had a problem with the starter jamming on my wife's '84 Buick Skyhawk.
- Turned out the ring gear had been installed backwards *at the factory*. The
- ramped edge of the gear was facing *away* from the starter. Amazing it worked
- as well as it did. I still have that flywheel up on the wall in my office.

- I don't know if it should have grease on it or not. The job was done by
- someone else, back in the days before I started doing all my own work.
- Probably couldn't hurt.
