- I found the MC (mixture control or "duty cycle") solenoid and
- disconnected it. No suprise, the problem is gone. This mimics the
- situation where the engine temp is low, and the coolant sensor
- overrides the other electronic fuel control components leading to a
- "full rich" mixture.
-
- The problem seems to involve the electronic fuel contol system when it
- is calling for a "leaner" mixture.
-
- A good first candidate is the "oxygen sensor"($50) which protrudes
- from the manifold measuring the
- exhaust gas composition. I have heard from someone who replaced his
- after dozensof visits to the repair shop, and it was the ticket in his case. He
- also said this was done under a recall for the emission system. Does
- anyone have any information about this recall ?
-
- Good luck,
-
- Jim
