  13.    A friend asked me to adjust the clutch on his 86 Jetta, but it has a mechani
  14. sm like no other I have ever seen.  Instead of the expected nylon thumbscrew
  15. there is contraption with ball bearings in it, but no sign of any threaded
  16. adjustment.  I have looked at other Jettas, but none have this arrangement.
  17. Can anyone shed some light on this?  My reputation as a mechanic is on the
  18. line.  In fiddling with the thing it seems to have loosened so now the clutch
  19. won't disengage at all.  Thanks, Lee
