- Can you say "Vega?" One of Chevrolet's more dain-bramaged innovations
- on the Vega was to drive the water pump with the timing belt. Then,
- since the pulley was already there, they decided to use the water pump
- as an adjustor for the belt. So they slotted the holes on the pump. To
- adjust the belt, you removed the water pump, installed a new gasket,
- slid it into position, tightened the bolts, and replaced whatever water
- or antifreeze drooled out in the meantime.
