- What is this tax for? To cover 'lost royalties' as a result of
- home taping? If so, the record companies should allow manufacturers
- to produce DAT (DCC or MNIN DISC) machines without SCMS protection.
- As you know, the whole point of SCMS is to prevent people from
- copying from one digital tape to another, digitally, etc. So, how
- can they justify this tax?
