- Hello again! I've been pestering for quite awhile about equipment
- recommendations and opinions. A great many people responded with information
- that allowed me to improve the sound of the system I was going to buy as well
- as to save money. Thanks to all of you. This is the final system purchase:
-
- NAD 5000 (I was going to get the 5440, which is the same unit without the
- headphone jack, but with all the raving about the Sony MDR-V6's
- going on around hear, and since they were on sale for about $60
- I decided to go for the 5000)
-
- Adcom GFA-555II
- Magnepan 2.6/R
-
- Ungrateful wretch that I am, I am back to ask yet more questions of the
- proven net.wisdom that resides in this group: Where do I put the speakers?
-
- The room that the system will be in is 12 by 17 with about 9.5' ceilings
- (actually, they could go into another room which is 9 by 13 with 9.5'
- ceilings, but it seemed more accoustically "sound" (yeesh) to put them
- in the larger room). I wish I could draw neat ASCII pictures, but I can't.
- A bay window takes up almost all of one of the short walls. A closet
- door is in the middle of the other. (This is starting to sound like Zork).
- Should I place them along the long or short walls? Should I love or fear
- the bay window? Any other rules-of-thumb to get me going for a first
- placement of the speakers which won't be awful (I realize that regardless of
- the general rules I follow, I'll have to play with them to get really the
- most from them). Any help you could provide (again) would be most
- appreciated.
-
- Thanks so much,
-
