- The Folk Calendar is compiled by me for WPSU, Penn State's local
- public radio station. The calendar is read on the air during
- WPSU's Folk Show, which airs at the following times:

- Saturday 6AM-11AM
- Sunday 8AM-11AM
- Wednesday 8PM-midnight

- **** LOCAL EVENTS ****

- The Acoustic Brew Coffeehouse has announced its fall schedule. Acoustic
- Brew provides a place to hear folk music in an intimate smoke and alcohol
- free environment. Shows are held at the Center for Well Being in Lemont.

- The first concert of the season will be 8PM on Friday, September 18 and
- will feature Cormac McCarthy, with local favorite Rene Campbell opening
- the show. Cormac McCarthy, one of New England's most clever and gifted
- songwriters, will fill you with everything from laughter to melancholy
- images of growing up in a failing New Hampshire mill town. McCarthy
- was named Best Folk Performer, Best Songwriter, and Best Solo Artist
- during the recent New Hampshire Music Awards. Don't miss Cormac
- McCarthy and Rene Campbell on September 18 at the Acoustic Brew
- Coffeehouse, 123 Mt. Nittany Road in Lemont.

- The Central Pennsylvania Country Dance Association sponsors contradances
- at Radio Park Elementary School in State College. The next dance will
- be Friday, September 25 at 7:30 PM with caller Dick Cole and music by
- Crooked Stovepipe. Future dances will be held October 24, November 20,
- and December 4. Beginners are welcome; no partner is necessary; dress is

- Interlandia is Penn State's folk dance club. They meet for European and
- Israeli folk dancing every Friday night at 7:45 in 133 White Building on
