- The Melitta Coffee Roaster operates on the same principle as a hot air
- popcorn popper, but has an upper chamber to catch the chaff and hold
- it out of the hot air stream, and a metal cover with small holes in it
- to vent the air but not the chaff. It does not produce any smoke, and
- only a pleasant roasting coffee aroma, so either the air temperature
- is lower than that of a popcorn popper or the chaff is what makes the
- smoke and the upper chamber keeps it from burning.
-
- Assuming the latter, perhaps one can jury-rig a chaff-catcher (with holes in
- it) and attach it to the outlet of the popcorn popper. Maybe aluminum foil?
-
- Take care not to create a fire hazard.
