- Argh ! I've just made my monthly visit to my used-to-be-favorite
- stationary store and hardly recognised the place. Festooned with gaudy
- and hideous promotional garbage to do with "Back to School". All sorts
- of stupid stereotyping about "School". It would appear that the great
- unwashed masses don't bother to provide their children with learning
- materials, such as pencils, paper, rulers, .. until they have to go
- back to the dreaded institutions after their summer release.
- Consequently, much of the quality regular stationary stock is moved out
- to make room for the Back to School junk specials.
-
- I learned long ago to avoid certain mainline department stores during
- "Christ"mas shopping (which begins Nov 1 in Canada) after finding them
- actually moving good quality mechandise off the shelves to make room
- for stuff that nobody would buy in their normal non-"'Tis the season to
- be stupid" minds.
