- The people who made my smoke detectors did. They come with an optional
- security pin that locks them in place so you need a needle nose pliers to
- take them down (for battery replacement, e.g.).

- I find the scenario of a child young enough to eat plastic climbing a
- ladder with a needle nose pliers in hand unlikely, to say the least. It
- is, of course, an adult responsibility to see that the smoke detectors are
- disposed of safely.
