  28. Incapacitating agents come in three basic varieties (not counting older
  29. military formulas not currently in use).
  30.  
  31. CS - Irritating agent.  More potent that CN *when* it gets to the eyes
  32.  
  33. CN - Lacramating agent.  Much higher vapor rpessure than CS; significantly
  34. easier to deliver to the agressor's eyeball than CS.
  35.  
  36. OC - Oleoresin Capsicum - pepper spray.  This stuff is getting very
  37. good reviews (much higher than CN or CS which are frequently ineffective
  38. when used in a hand held aresol).  This stuff is sold under the name "halt"
  39. (dog spray) at 0.35% ocncentration (not very good); Punch I (1% concentration,
  40. made by Aerko INternational); Punch II (5% concentration, sold in the police
  41. market); and "Pepper Mace (tm)" by Def Tec (sold to police markets - other
  42. "pepper mace" products may not be as good).  If you get this stuff, I 
  43. recommend the 5% Punch II which though theoretically sold only in police
  44. circles is available from Greater Nutfield Supply, Kem Smitchenden Presidet,
  45. 184 Charlotte St, Manchester NH 03103 603-669-4736.  There are several other
  46. brands out there in varying percentages, but each must be evaluated 
  47. independently - the carrier formulation & delivery system is as important
  48. as the concentration of the agent.  Pepper spray is reputed to be much
  49. more effective n dogs than CN or CS.
