  14. / means to the kernel.  / means what we all know it means.

  17. to worry about running under non-Unix-like operating systems.

  21. I agree with the principle (in principle); in practice,
  22. I want the programs to work in the most convenient way,
  23. i.e., completion appending a / automatically, and
  24. the fileutils stripping off the / automatically.

  27. (of only stripping the / when the path is a directory)
