  23. It should NOT be posted to all newsgroups.

  25. First, it does not affect "all of us."  People reading news under
  26. VMS, DOS, MacOS, and other non-UNIX operating systems may not care
  27. about AT&T's legal actions regarding UNIX.
  28.  
  29. Second, a huge number of newsgroups are clearly inappropriate for
  30. this type of posting.  Readers of rec.music.gdead or sci.aquaria
  31. or even comp.sources.unix really don't need to have "Boycott AT&T"
  32. messages shoved in their faces.
  33.  
  34. Third, it is extremely bad netiquette to indulge in massive
  35. cross-posting.  It's annoying.  And in some (non-UNIX) sectors of
  36. the net it wastes disk space -- you're talking about >1000 extra
  37. articles if you include the alt.* groups.
