  14.     Has anyone ever installed gcc in their home directory without root  
  15. privileges? Can I somehow install the compiler without dealling with the  
  16. sysadmin? We have lots of disk space but a missing/inactive sysadmin. Is such  
  17. an undertaking for gurus only?
