  12. No matter how useful a program may be, it contributes nothing to the
  13. GNU project if it requires Motif in order to run.  Unless/until
  14. someone writes a free Motif implementation, such a program simply
  15. can't run on a GNU system.

  17. So, if you write software to enhance GNU, please don't use Motif.
  18. Use a free toolkit instead, such as the Athena widgets or InterViews.

  20. If you have written a program that requires Motif, please don't ask
  21. other people to help work on it.  If other people do help, they too
  22. will fall into the Motif black hole, where their efforts add nothing
  23. to the GNU system.  Please don't lead other people down this path.

  25. I have some ideas for how to support pictures within Info files (and,
  26. more generally, in any files for Emacs to display).  I can write them
  27. down if someone is seriously interested in working on such a project
  28. for Emacs.
