- One of the main reasons that the VDOT gave for using the HOV lane is
- to reduce pollution ... but on the news, they said that the average
- commute more than doubled, creating a heck of a lot *more* pollution.
- If nobody had ever been able to use the third lane, and it suddenly
- appeared with the HOV restriction, that would be one thing, but to
- allow people to use it, and get used to being able to drive the speed
- limit on a road that they have to pay to use, and then take it away is
- absurd. They should have just added two lanes while they were at it,
- and give one to HOV.
-
- Annoying side note: Since there were so many frustrated people
- running the exact change booths, they have closed them at night. Now,
- you have to wait no matter what time of day you drive on it. *sigh*
-
- My suggestion is that everyone who commutes donate $1 (or some similar
- amount) to a common fund, then *everyone* should just drive in the HOV
- lane. Then any ticket could be payed for from the fund. Something has
- to be done, this is ridiculous ...
