  16. Hopefully, I can explain the problem clearly.  
  17.  
  18. What I have:
  19. *    running SCO Unix 3.2 with ODT 1.0
  20.  
  21. *    a form with several children attached to it such as label gadgets, 
  22. textboxes, listboxes, etc.
  23.  
  24. *     each of the children are sized and position according to a percentage.
  25.  
  26. *    These children are attached by position and the form is 
  27. proportionally resizable.

  29.  
  30. What I want:
  31. *    each textbox to be sized according to the number of characters expected.
  32. for instance, if I have a textbox expecting 20 characters, I want the textbox
  33. to be only 20 characters long.  I need to calculate this size on the fly.
  34.  
  35. *    all children of the form except the textboxes to be resized according
  36. to the correct proportions of the form when it is resized.  The textbox 
  37. children should remain the same size regardless of the form's size to
  38. support the above.

  41. So given the above, is there a way to do this with Motif?  Second, is there an
  42. easy way to do this?

  44. Any help, guidance, comments, RTFM info, code frags, etc. would be most
