  26.     I got the same symptom when was installing X11R5 on 
  27.     DS 5000/20. I viewed the code and found that 
  28.     /dev/mouse was read protected: chmod a+r /dev/mouse
  29.     did the job. xconsole had the same problem
  30.     chmod a+r /dev/xcons fixed that. Hope this solves
  31.     your problem.
