- ``The subject line says it all'', except that the program dumps core
- with its PC somewhere in hyperspace. I'm using the program ``straight
- out of the box: all I changed were the NNTPSERVER, DOMAIN and
- ORGANIZATION defines in xvnews.h. Before I start poking about with
- dbxtool, has anyone else seen and solved this particular problem? (I
- thought it might be due to having a long ORGANIZATION in a fixed-size
- buff in xv_post.c. No soap.)
-
- Just to make life more interesting, the problem symptoms vary.
- Sometimes things go up in smoke as soon as I select the ``Post''
- button (in either newsgroup or article mode) ; sometimes I'm allowed
- to compose a posting because xvnews is waiting to actually try to make
- the post before crashing.
-
- And another thing: I'm using Sun's cc 1.1. Things seem to be
- marginally more solid when I compile without the optimizer, but I
- could be fooling myself. I don't have guide installed, so I'm using
- the libguide which came with the application. (And, boy, what a large
- binary results.)
