- #Well, that's good advice even if Xenix is going to be supported
- #forever. I'm sure I'll get flamed for this -- especially in the SCO
- #Xenix newsgroup -- but I don't think Xenix is an appropriate product

- #I don't think SCO should expend any effort adding new features to

- #solution to customers who don't already have an installed base of

- I know that this has been beat up pretty badly before, but...
- The mindset that Xenix just can't be a "good" answer if just wrong!
- Many new installations (no Unix/Xenix in place) are non-technical users
- and DO NOT require POSIX and the other "lack of standards". And
- they definitely do not need any additional overhead, requirements,
- of sysadmin woos. SCO Xenix for many installations has been and
- continues to be a very good answer. It is very stable, requires very
- little onsite technical experience, and just flat runs, and runs....
-
- Is it for everyone? No. But is there a reason to consider it for
- new installations, YES... There are a bunch of resellers out there
- that now push SCO UNIX, not because it is a "better" answer, but rather
- because of the perceived (and actual) pressure of SCO. Many of these
- installations could have been very good installations with SCO Xenix.
