- Its the same ol' sob story, a friend of mine system crashed and burned.
- All of the hardware except for the tape drive has been replaced so we
- don't know if it even works or not. But this is the problem: after
- reinstalling xenix 2.3.2, I looked for the disk of drivers and utility
- software for the tape drive, no luck. I tried to contact the company
- from whence the drive came and they're out of business. I don't have any
- experience on xenix systems so don't know where to start.
-
- This is the information I do have. The tape drive and software are from
- a company called Bell Technologies out of Fremont California. Its called
- the Bell XTC xenix tape cartridge system which is implemented on the
- QIC02/36 compatible streaming tape hardware and software. Configuration
- wise, its a 386 machine and the card uses interrupt level 5, i/o addr.
- 0x300-0x301 and DMA channel 1.
-
- Is there anyway I can use this info to solve this myself (mkdev tape?)
- or does anyone possibly have a copy of these drivers? I also have the
- names of the authors, maybe someone can put me in touch with them.
- They're Lance Norskog, Bob Glossman, and Dimitri Rotow.
-
- The poor people have been on sneaker net for the past six weeks and
- all they really want to do is restore their last backup and move on to
- a new system. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
