- We have several flavours of Unix (HP-UX, Ultrix and Tek) which are to share
- (disk) resources via NFS and be administered via NIS.
-
- All three have differing root ids (and groups):
- Tek: uid=0(root) gid=0(root)
- Ultrix: uid=0(root) gid=1(daemon)
- HP-UX: uid=0(root) gid=3(sys)
-
- In attempting to decide how NIS should be configured, what is the impact of
- changing the group names and/or numbers as setup in the distributions of
- passwd and groups?
-
- Are there any recommendations for multi-vendor environments re group numbering
- and naming?
-
- Many thanks,
- Mike
