  11. We have several flavours of Unix (HP-UX, Ultrix and Tek) which are to share
  12. (disk) resources via NFS and be administered via NIS.
  13.  
  14. All three have differing root ids (and groups):
  15. Tek:    uid=0(root) gid=0(root)
  16. Ultrix: uid=0(root) gid=1(daemon)
  17. HP-UX:  uid=0(root) gid=3(sys)
  18.  
  19. In attempting to decide how NIS should be configured, what is the impact of
  20. changing the group names and/or numbers  as setup in the distributions of 
  21. passwd and groups?
  22.  
  23. Are there any recommendations for multi-vendor environments re group numbering 
  24. and naming?
