- I'm trying to integrate an ultrix (4.2) system into a network backup
- scheme. The other systems involved allow anyone to run /etc/dump, and
- use permissions on the device special files for security. This allows
- dump to be run from an account other than root, which is in a group
- that has read permissions on the raw devices. This doesn't work under
- ultrix since only root (or opser?) can run dump.
-
- There is also a file called /usr/etc/dump.4.1, which seems to be a version
- of dump without this restriction. I can't find any mention of it in the
- docs. Can anyone tell me what it is, if/where it is documented, and whether
- there are any concerns I should have about using it ?
