- I'm trying to install some software on an ultrix 4.1 system.
- Gethostbyname is giving me some trouble. It returns a non-null result
- (therefore it worked), and it correctly returns aliases for a few
- hosts that I know has them. However, the h_addr_list pointer is NULL,
- and h_addr points to garbage.
-
- DEC support has been contacted, and they "corrected" a small test
- program that I wrote to demonstrate the problem. I've no doubt that
- it works on their ultrix. However, their program doesn't work on my
- ultrix.
-
- I've reached the limits of my ultrix expertise. If I could only look at
- the source, I could figure out what's wrong, but ultrix isn't a *real* Unix.
- Then again, real Unix isn't *real* anymore.
-
- Does anyone know if it's possible to configure an ultrix system so that
- gethostbyname returns aliases but not addresses?? Thanks in Advance.
