- We have purchased Compaq's 486/c portable machine and have been unsuccessfully
- trying to comfigure X-windows (X11R4) in an ISC 3.0 environment.
-
- During configuration we have attempted to setup a server using
- the 256 color vga driver (IBM). The generated server constructs a 320x200 pixel
- display as opposed to the advertised 640x480. We can find no infomation
- pertaining to which VGA manufacturer the 486/c display is attempting to emulate,
- hence the use of the IBM default. Use of any other vendor VGA selections
- yields displays that are totally useless. Compaq claims to have a driver for
- this machine's VGA display, but only for SCO.
-
- Some questions:
-
- Has anyone out there installed ISC and X on the 486/c ?
-
- If so, how was the 256 color VGA server configured ?
-
- Lastly, as an almost ridiculous last resort, has anyone
- had any luck is getting SCO drivers or Xsight to run
- under Interactive ?
-
-
- Thanx in advance for any help you can offer,
-
-
