- Tht explains why you quoted so much of Uwes text in this posting I guess :-/

- Uwe's posting hasn't been half as wasteful as the ensuing thread voicing
- reactions to it.

-
- Wrong. Uwe DID post it to alt.sources Please read more carefully:
-

- First of all, I don't like moderated source groups. They failed too many
- times in the past. I don't want to leave it to a moderator to decide when
- it is the right time to release my sources. I prefer to set the release
- date myself. Maybe if there were a moderated source group that had kind
- of a guaranteed worst case latency between submitting and posting the
- sources, I could live with that. But as it is now, a source release can
- be easily delayed for several weeks, if not months, and the submitter
- can't do anything about it.
-
- [ ... ]
-
- Unfortunately, up to now the comp hierarchy doesn't have an unmoderated
- source group, so I had to post it to alt.source so that at least some
- archive sites get it. However, the alt hierarchy has a limited
- distribution. _Especially_ those UUCP sites that have to pay for
- their feed often don't carry the alt hierarchy. So to make the new
- FAS release available to them I crossposted it to the comp hierarchy.
- Again, _especially_ these pure UUCP sites have a strong interrest in
- FAS because their only connection to the USENET is via their serial
- lines.
-
-
- Good reasons. Acceptable to many of us out here and worth being granted
- an 'exception' to the rule of posting source to a non-source groups. Not
- many people would deserve it. Uwe does.
-
- > But why should FAS be different than all other sources ?
-
- Asked and answered MANY times so far in this thread. If you don't need a
- FAS driver you won't understand.
-

-
- Cutting off your nose to spite your face will serve no useful purpose
- except to make it difficult to wear glasses. Uwe posted what he thought
- would be a well received program. Some people bitched about it (well,
- one person in particular kicked this thread off). It's not like you
- have the full brunt of any of the binary or source groups crossposted
- here for petes sake. It was ONE program and the ensuing bitch thread
- has caused even more traffic.

-
- So? What's your point? PLEASE don't tell me this is about to degenerate
- into a "We're as big as all of you" discussion. Don't think I could take
- that this week.
-

- Are you sure about that ? :)
