- Howdy folks,
- Having tons of trouble getting my machine on the Internet for mail. I am
- running a 486 with SCO Unix 3.2.2 & TCP 1.1.3f (or 1.3.3f?). I am set up
- through a UUCP connection to a machine on the internet (through generosity
- of a kind soul). I have two multi-part questions that follow.
-
- (1) I have the machine currently set up with SCO's (or Lachman's) version
- of sendmail. My config file is set up properly, and under normal conditions
- everything works.
- (a) After reading an article here (in USENET) I changed my local mailer to
- not have the "m" flag (for multiple transmissions). Was that the right
- thing to do?
- (b) How to set up the log file for sendmail (where) ? I tried changing the
- log level in sendmail.cf, but still cannot find any log file anywhere!!
- (c) All mail is not delivered. I can see uucp receiving the mail, but I do
- not receive all the messages in my mbox. One time out of 30 messages
- (a big shar file) I had sent to me from another machine on the internet,
- I received only 14 messages. Another time, only 1 file came over uucp (I
- can tell from the uucp log files), but it is not in my mailbox (/usr/spool
- /mail/ravi). Also, a core file is created every time mail screws up, in
- my home directory. Is something wrong with lmail???
-
- (2) Someone suggested using sendmail-IDA as a replacement. Has anyone ever
- used this successfully on an SCO Unix system? The "READMEs" or "Makefiles"
- did not seem to have any entry for SCO UNIX.
-
- Please respond with your experiences. I am desperate for a solution. Also,
- I guess it will not be a good idea to send your replies to ravi@usv.com, as
- I may not receive the message; please either post your replies here, or
- reply to this account that I am sending mamil from.
-
- Thanks a lot,
