- We have asked, several times, for volunteers to work on shared libraries for
- SVR3. Jim Tsillas <jtsilla@damon.ccs.northeastern.edu> has volunteered to
- help and to coordinate the effort. Unfortunately, he is just now getting
- his system back up after a disk crash (seems Jim doesn't believe in
- backups :->). Please contact him if you are interested in helping. We
- have recently gotten a couple of offers for FTP sites. We are currently
- working on a significant update to X386 1.2E; this will be available on
- at least one SVR3 archive. We haven't decided on a release schedule yet;
- if it will be a while, we will put the current X386 1.2E up on the archive
- and post an announcement.
-
- The bottom line is that unless people volunteer, the work doesn't get done.
- We're not a commercial venture; we don't have extra machines lying around
- that we can run 10 different operating systems on. So find some time,
- contact Jim, and, if we're lucky and hardworking, maybe the next release
- will support SVR3 shared libraries.
-
- And, as I said before, there's always the commercial options from SGCS
- and MetroLink.
