- Sorry bub, but no. I've yet to hear of anyone being FORCED to use the
- net. Just as Indy drivers are FORCED to abide by the rules and use
- appropriate equipment, so to are you forced to play by Usenet rules
- if you want to play.
-
- I marvel but am not surprised at the attitude that the whole network
- should be pulled down to the lowest common denominator of some low-
- budget leaf site. If you want to play, you gotta pay. If you can't
- pay what it takes to participate in this overwhelmingly American
- network, you have several options:
-
- * Don't play.
- * Set up alternative feeds/filters to accomodate your needs. Pay
- for that setup if necessary. You could, for example, have
- your US feed filter out any post over a certain size. In
- other words, you adapt to the net instead of expecting the net to
- adapt to you.
- * change any political institutions that jacks up the price. yep, a
- lot of work and it's easier to just sit on your fanny and complain.
-
- Perhaps it's a cultural thing. Were I trying to partake of an European
- product, the LAST thing I'd expect would be for the product to be
- modified to my particular need and I'd expect to pay more. Actually
- I have a lot of experience with that, having driven an European-only
- BMW that I personally imported for the last 10 years. Yep, I pay
- through the nose for parts available only in Germany but I knew that going
- in. Perhaps I should demand BMW import parts just for me and sell them
- at domestic German prices. That's what you're asking for regarding the
- net.
