  31.     SVR4 seems to be VERY streamlined (mostly in it's stdio).
  32. I have been running X11R5 on this machine (A Unitron motherboard 486 33Mhz,
  33. 256K cache), and it's pretty quick - using a Diamond SpeedSTAR 24 anyway.
  34.     An aside here: I ordered a Diamond SpeedSTAR PLUS hoping I would
  35. get X11R5 usage at 1024*256, but they sent me a card with manuals and disks
  36. in a motherboard box! The card says "Diamond SpeedSTAR 24" on it, but the
  37. Windows drivers don't let me use 32K colors (they say they can't set the
  38. mode). Is this card a 24 with the programmable PLL (or VCO) and without
  39. the 24's DAC? I also got a one page addemdum calling the card the 24.
  40. Oh well... just confused by documentation as usual.
  41.     Also, where do I get SAS??? You are on a public access UNIX system?
  42. Do you have it there? What would it do for me? Get the higher speeds? I don't
  43. even know if it would be worth it, I only get 1500cps using UUCP to my friends
  44. machine. I don't know if either my friend's SPARC I can't handle it, or I
  45. can't (Consensys SVR4 3.0).

  48. P.S.:    I am using TECO to write this article. I've always written a TECO for
  49. whatever machine I had to program on (even wrote one for my Commodore 64).
  50. Needless to say, I am a TECO fanatic. My UNIX version uses ANSI to color
  51. levels and parentheses/quote/bracket levels (I first did this back in '84,
  52. how long has EMACS done this?). EDIT/TECO eh? What about just "MAKE WAR" under
  53. TOPS-10 6.03???
