  30. It's real easy to get one in Texas as well.  $25/year (at least when I had one)
  31. and no bond.  Everything else Dave described is true and the state will hound
  32. you until you file a report.  You have to file even if you have no sales tax
  33. to report.

  35. I'm not sure what Texas does to small tax evaders as we are discussing but it
  36. shuts large ones down and seizes assets.  To repeat what Dave said: don't do it to avoid taxes.

  38. On the other hand, using a sales tax permit to masquerade as a reseller in
  39. order to get wholesaler's discounts is perfectly legal -- as long as you
  40. remit the requisite sales tax.
