- I've a question that may fit in this group. I am trying to find a very
- efficient way (read: fast) to transfer files from unix-to-unix over a 2400
- baud dial-up line. When using MS-DOS, I used rz/sz and a local MS-DOS term
- program, but now I have Unix, and C-Kermit. What other communication routes
- do I have, esp those with high efficiency? The connection is local telco
- and not usually noisy. I achieved high rates of xfer with zmodem, but the
- MS-DOS world seems a bit ahead with programs like PUMA and others that run
- over 99% efficient use of bandwidth (often 239 cps on a 2400 baud line).
- Now, besides uucico and ckermit, what else is there? I compiled both
- rz/sz on both machines, but it seems to want to talk to the tty and not the
- modem; is there an easy way for me to use rz/sz? And, my school has nicely
- removed uucico from all their machines, so if I want to use it, I have to
- upload and recompile (sigh). Or something. Can somebody tell me relative
- efficiencies, or tell me how to speed up ckermit and/or uucico to realistic
- speeds?
- It seems like ckermit runs about 120cps or something.
- Well, thanks in advance.
