- I have the new modular scsi system
- in alpha for the adaptec 1542 adapter, using disk and tape
-
- Basically this replaces the 'as' monolithic scsi driver.
- The advantage is that eventually it should support
- other adapters and other devices, and it is autoconfiguring
- so you don't HAVE TO HAVE TAPE ON ID4. (for example)
-
- There is a driver for the FUTURE DOMAIN board being written
- and I believe another that I have forgotten the name of.
- (ST01/ST02?)
- I have one for the bustek 742a that works but is not yet ported
- (shouldn't take too long) that will support >16MB on an EISA machine.
-
- I have almost completed porting the MACH boot blocks
- (they use the bios rather than hardware, so they should work
- for scsi AND esdi/ide.) but until that is done
- I think the new scsi devices should be considered non booting
- (one could use the as boot blocks with a change
- of device number (from 3 to 4 (I think)) but I haven't done that
- yet.
-
- I would like a few more people to alpha test the system.
- any volunteers?
-
- anybody who'd like to port write a cd-rom device top-end
- (the as stuff includes it but it's embedded in the rest)
- let me know and I'll send you the stuff. I can't do it..
- I don't have one.
