  31. Well, the problem is that I'm not sharing "/" at all.  Let me try 
  32. to clarify my situation

  49. I am running System 7 on A/UX.  I try to log into the SE/30
  50. from the chooser, and it sits there forever until I break the
  51. connection.  I try to log into the NetWare running NFS as a 
  52. Mac client using the chooser and I sit there forever until
  53. I break the connection.

  55. On the SE/30, I try to log into the A/UX machine (IIfx) from
  56. the chooser and it takes a long time, but I get connected 
  57. eventually and then it takes forever to transfer a file.  From
  58. the SE/30 I log into the NetWare server running NFS as a Mac 
  59. client from the SE/30 chooser and I am connected immediately.

  61. On the A/UX machine, I mount a NetWare volume using NFS and it 
  62. is immediately mounted.  File transfer is very fast.  I ftp
  63. to the NetWare server and I get immediate response.

  65. This tells me that the NetWare server is routing AFP protocols
  66. properly, because I can log into the NFS NetWare server from the 
  67. SE/30.  The ethernet connection works fine on the fx because I 
  68. can get decent performance when using it in Unix.
  69.  
  70. I am dumbfounded as to what is going on.  I think that filesharing
  71. is somewhat broken, especially on an fx.  I have reinstalled three
  72. times already and the environment is pretty much virgin, except for
  73. the hosts, networks, export files.

  75. If you have any other ideas, I'll be very interested to hear about
  76. them.
