- Sounds as if I know that problem... :-(

- OK, I havn't installed my Unix (still 2.03, where is 2.1 in europe ???),
- yet.
- Maby you want to ask me again next week. But I had similar problems with my
- tapedrive (the same Wangtek) when I tried to do some backup work on my
- system.
-
- To make a long story short: I changed the WD-SCSI controller chip to a AMD
- chip with the same number (AMD 33C93 A, if memory serves right).
- Now my system works an everything seems fine. I copied my whoĆ·e root-FS to
- the tape yesterday and everything went fine.
-
- It seems, as if there are problems with the Unix-SCSI-driver and the chip.
-
- I mentioned this to C= Germany some month ago, but I didn't get any feedback
- on this by now.
-
- BTW, it makes no diffrence, wether you use the WD-chip with "proto" or
- without. They both don't work. I have tested this. Only the AMD-chip is OK.
-
- I don't know the reason for that behaviour (anyone to shed some light into
- that ?), but it works for me and this is the main issue.
