  29. OK, I havn't installed my Unix (still 2.03, where is 2.1 in europe ???),
  30. yet.
  31. Maby you want to ask me again next week. But I had similar problems with my
  32. tapedrive (the same Wangtek) when I tried to do some backup work on my
  33. system.

  35. To make a long story short: I changed the WD-SCSI controller chip to a AMD
  36. chip with the same number (AMD 33C93 A, if memory serves right).
  37. Now my system works an everything seems fine. I copied my who÷e root-FS to
  38. the tape yesterday and everything went fine.

  40. It seems, as if there are problems with the Unix-SCSI-driver and the chip.

  42. I mentioned this to C= Germany some month ago, but I didn't get any feedback
  43. on this by now.

  45. BTW, it makes no diffrence, wether you use the WD-chip with "proto" or
  46. without. They both don't work. I have tested this. Only the AMD-chip is OK.

  48. I don't know the reason for that behaviour (anyone to shed some light into
  49. that ?), but it works for me and this is the main issue.
