  21. Perhaps the "connection speed" is independent of the DTE-to-DCE interface
  22. speed.  If you went through SMIT and selected 38400, you probably have
  23. 38400 from the RISC/6000...  I suspect the 9600 baud you are seeing 
  24. reflects the modem-to-modem speed that was negociated between the modems
  25. when you dialed in/out.  Use "stty" to check; from another screen issue:
  26.  
  27.   stty -a < /dev/tty7      (if tty7 is the port in question)
  28.  
  29. You'll see the tty's port speed in the top line...
