- Just by configuring virtual printers to the device. You can do this
- from "smit print", >"manage local subsystem", >"virtual printers".
- You can do some really slick things, like:
-
-
- Queues ppds hplj gl ps
- \ \ / /
- \ \ / /
- +++++
- |
- Printer 4029
-
-
- Where you just send files to the appropriate queue, and AIX will send
- the proper initialization sequence to the 4029 to switch modes.
-
- Make sure the 4029 is configured properly, as well as the print device
- and queues. It sounds like maybe you don't have the virtual print
- devices properly configured, if automode select is not working.
-
- You should be able to add virtual printers without deleting ones that
- already exist.
-
- You may check with your SE about getting the IBM redbook "Printing for
- Fun and Profit", which has a pretty good description of the printing
- system.
-
