- Fellow AIXers,
-
- I am trying to implement a system on a removeable magneto-optical
- storage media.
-
- Should each platter that is loaded, be set up as a different (unique)
- volume group, or should there be one volume group for the device, and each
- platter be a part of that one volume group?
-
- In case of a unique VG for each platter, is there a max limit
- of VGs allowed per machine?
-
- Also each platter must have a unique File System on it, correct?
- In this case is there a max # of file systems that a machine would allow?
- It should be noted however that at a time only one of these
- file systems would be mounted.
-
- So in summary should I use
-
- 1. Same VG / Same FS for every platter ?
- 2. Same VG / Unique FS for every Platter ?
- 3. Unique VG / Same FS for every platter ?
- 4. Unique VG / Unique FS for every platter ?
-
- I would like to invite some views on this matter and the pro
- and cons for them. I wouls appreciate any ideas that you may have.
