  25. I have no direct experience, but my encounters with this problem on other
  26. systems always turned out to be me just *thinking* I had hardware handshaking
  27. set up -- but one side or the other wasn't actually configured for it. I
  28. suspect in your case that either the RS/6000 isn't configured for hardware
  29. handshaking (use smit to check the line attributes), or the cable isn't
  30. carrying the handshaking signals correctly (remember that you do NOT use
  31. the same cable as you would to connect an ascii workstation -- you need
  32. a straight-through cable).
