- I have no direct experience, but my encounters with this problem on other
- systems always turned out to be me just *thinking* I had hardware handshaking
- set up -- but one side or the other wasn't actually configured for it. I
- suspect in your case that either the RS/6000 isn't configured for hardware
- handshaking (use smit to check the line attributes), or the cable isn't
- carrying the handshaking signals correctly (remember that you do NOT use
- the same cable as you would to connect an ascii workstation -- you need
- a straight-through cable).
