  29. Before you buy anything, try the following *free* solution to image transfers.
  30. Pbmplus provides all sorts of type-to-type bitmap transfers (except the format
  31. IBM uses on its pixmaps for the new desktop in 3.2, of course).  Look for 
  32. PBMPlus10dec91 (capitalization unsure). It creates a number of obviously-named
  33. little programs, like xwdtopbm, which converts an xwd to a pbm - usually ppm -
  34. format.  Then get xv, which allows viewing of std bitmaps (gif, jpeg, tiff, pbm
  35. ppm, and PC, MAC, and Sun standards), and can save to postscript or about 5
  36. other formats.  Finally, Ghostscript/Ghostview will allow you to preview the
  37. postscript and convert postscripts to bitmaps.  All for the price of a phone
  38. call, and all running well on my rs600.
