  12.      Just completed several runs of COPS.....
  13. was wondering about the following messages in the Security report.
  14. **** misc.chk ****
  15. Warning! /usr/bin/uudecode creates setuid files!

  17. **** ftp.chk ****
  18. Warning! operator should be in /etc/ftpusers!
  19.  
  20. **** dev.chk ****
  21. Warning! NFS file system exported with no restrictions!
  22.  
  23. **** pass.chk ****
  24. Warning!  Password Problem: Guessed:    ftp    shell:  /bin/csh
  25.  
  26. **** passwd.chk ****
  27. Warning! Password file, uid > 8 chars
  28.  
  29. Each of these messages obviously expresses a security concern however
  30. I'm a little confused about the specific nature of the problem being
  31. addressed and what might be done to correct it.
