  12. Thanks to all who responded to my earlier post on setting up a Unix
  13. firewall -- the information was valuable.  I was waiting to post a
  14. summary until my copy of _Practical Unix Security_ by Garfinkel and
  15. Spafford arrived, and after reading the chapter on how to set up a
  16. firewall, I'm left with one question.

  18. The recommended configuration for a choke is that it should not run
  19. /etc/routed and it should be configured to not forward packets from the
  20. one network interface to the other.  I know how to not run /etc/routed,
  21. but I've sweated over my documentation, and I can't find how to turn off
  22. packet forwarding.  Can someone please fill in this last detail for me?
  23. Is there some reason that nobody talks about how to do this?
