- Hello again,
-
- Thanks to all who responded to my earlier post on setting up a Unix
- firewall -- the information was valuable. I was waiting to post a
- summary until my copy of _Practical Unix Security_ by Garfinkel and
- Spafford arrived, and after reading the chapter on how to set up a
- firewall, I'm left with one question.
-
- The recommended configuration for a choke is that it should not run
- /etc/routed and it should be configured to not forward packets from the
- one network interface to the other. I know how to not run /etc/routed,
- but I've sweated over my documentation, and I can't find how to turn off
- packet forwarding. Can someone please fill in this last detail for me?
- Is there some reason that nobody talks about how to do this?
-
- Thanks again for the help. I'll post a summary after I get this question
- answered, or after a reasonable length of time if I get no answers.
-
- Pete.
