  14. 2. We looked into this a few months ago.  Along with SLIP there
  15.    is something called PPP (point-to-point-protocol) that has more
  16.     bells and whistles than slip.  There is even an RFC for PPP, as
  17.    well as a bunch of files, that we found on ftp.uu.net
  18.  
  19. 3. What I think we (well... some other department) ended up doing was
  20.    running IP over X25 using magic S-bus cards and software from some
  21.    places called Themis (hw) and Brixton (sw).
