- Awhile ago I posted a question about how to get a style option working
- with NFSS. The style option contained \xipt etc calls to macros which
- aren't defined in the basic NFSS latex format (since lfonts.new doesn't
- contain such a declaration). The funny thing that I noticed is that all
- the other styles which do call \xipt to set the font sizes work fine
- except for my locally defined thesis font. Since I got something to work
- okay with my thesis style, I am now wondering:
-
- 1) Which is the more established packaged for using times.sty. I have
- two, one from Tom Jones called psfonts, and another called PSNFSS.
-
- 2) Since I had to include oldlfont.sty in the Rainer Shoepf package into
- my thesis style to get it to work, I assume that \xipt was not defined.
- What then is the proper way to set the \LARGE etc macros using ps fonts?
- Or do I just use the old \xipt and always include oldlfont.sty?
-
-
-
- So I ask you, what package do you use that has a times.sty in it and when
- writing your own style, should you go right for the ps fonts or should you
- do some more general way via \xipt and let some other style file handle
- the mapping between ps fonts and \xipt (and hence \LARGE etc)?
-
-
- The three packages with a times.sty in it that I know of are:
-
- 1) Tom Jones, psfonts
- 2) Tom Rick. (with dvips), psfonts
- 3) psnfss, pnfss.sup and times.sty
-
-
- 2) Tom R.'s psfonts does not appear to be as general as the other two in
- that 1 and 3 correct for x heights and have conv. macros for change to
- entire font families quickly.
