- Greetings!
-
- I have been attempting to configure an Adaptec 1542B to work with a
- Zenith 386/16 under MS Dos 5.0.
-
- First some background:
-
- The scsi adapter worked successfully without modification in conjunction
- with a previously installed MFM drive and controller under LINUX - a
- unix_like operating system (Yea Linus!).
-
- Under MSDOS 5.0 with or without the MFM drive and controller I am
- experiencing frequent Memory Parity Failures. The instances when these
- occur can be identically reproduced - eg. PKUNZIPing a large file. At
- this point the Zenith ROM Monitor is entered - always at the same
- location (0eac:018e). These errors occurr with at least one other
- program (psilink.exe a communication program) during data transfers.
-
- I have tried several permutation of Adaptec drivers, Bus speeds, memory
- burst refresh speeds, removing extraneous cards (serial and modem) but
- to no avail
-
- The system is currently configured:
- 8 meg ----
- ega \
- Latest Bios: 3.5 (?) > Zenith manufacture or supplied
- 64k cache /
- 5.25 & 3.5 floppies ---
- Adaptec 1542B
- Fujitsu 2652S-512
-
-
- Any suggestions, insights, experiences are encouraged!
-
- TIA
