  37. Yeah, try xloadimage which you can get via anon ftp in export.lcs.mit.edu.
  38. xsetroot might do the trick as well, but it is not as flexible as xloadimage.

  44. If the application has X resources for this then you can set the new settings in
  45. your .Xdefaults file. Look in the manual for each of the applications if this is
  46. possible. Otherwise you can of course force the foreground and background color
  47. in the command line with -fg green -bg -blue for instance. Look in the xview
  48. manual (type man xview) for the complete story about this. Also check the
  49. $OPENWIN/lib/rgb.txt file for a complete list of available colors to try.
