- I have similar problems between the office where my workbench is
- located and the rest of our campus. The workshop is too far away
- from civilized life for a co-ax run. I am running a SL/IP line from
- a Xyplex server to my office. The Xyplex forgets the routing
- information for my SL/IP session if nothing happens for about 15
- minutes or so. The workshop PC runs Chameleon, so my temporary fix
- has been to background a once-a-minute ping to assorted interesting
- sites so that the Xyplex doesn't go brain-dead. I haven't seen any
- problems with things connected directly to the thick backbone
- going mute while talking to suns (at least not yet). We're running
- SunOS 4.1.2.
