- I found the answer myself. although it's not a very satisfactory one. I'm
- presuming what's happening is as follows:
- The Sun gives the format command to the disk. the disk says okay, and
- happily does it. Then, it goes back to "verify" the disk. but uses a
- "verify command". which is not getting recognised.

- BUT: The disk is FORMATTED!!!

- So even though it went back and said
- "error at block 0/0/3: format unfinished",
- I could (, can, and DID) run newfs, fsck, and even mount it just fine!!

- I'm now running the Quantum 40S fine on my 4/110.
- The Fujitsu M2246, I screwed up the jumpers on. but expect to be running
- that okay as soon as I remember what the factory settings were.
