  15. I found the answer myself. although it's not a very satisfactory one. I'm
  16. presuming what's happening is as follows:
  17.   The Sun gives the format command to the disk. the disk says okay, and
  18. happily does it. Then, it goes back to "verify" the disk. but uses a
  19. "verify command". which is not getting recognised.

  21. BUT: The disk is FORMATTED!!!

  23. So even though it went back  and said
  24. "error at block 0/0/3: format unfinished",
  25. I could  (, can, and DID) run newfs, fsck, and even mount it just fine!!

  27. I'm now running the Quantum 40S fine on my 4/110.
  28. The Fujitsu M2246, I screwed up the jumpers on. but expect to be running
  29. that okay as soon as I remember what the factory settings were.
