- Hi,
-
- I've been trying to make a bootable floppy for my IPC without too
- much success. I'm waiting on the $$$ to be available to get a CD
- ROM, so for the interim, I'm planning to back up to a drive on
- another machine and have a disaster recovery floppy, if possible.
-
- I used newfs(8) to put a viable file system on the floppy; no
- problems there. I did a cd to /usr/kvm/mdec and found a file
- called bootfd. I presume from the name that this must be the
- installable boot image for a floppy?... I tried:
- ./installboot -vlt /boot bootfd /dev/rfd0c.
-
- It comes back with an error message similar to:
- installboot: /boot file not present on target device /dev/rfd0c.
-
- If I can get past this much, I'm wondering what I have to do
- next?..
-
- 1. make a small /dev with just enought devices?...
-
- 2. copy over the "gneric" /vmunix from the SD drive?...
-
- 3. a few things from /etc and /bin....?
-
- ...or is this as Benjamin Braddock said, "totally baked."
