- I recently inherited an enclosure containing a 1/4" tape drive and a
- Micropolis 1355 disk drive. Unfortunately, there was no documentation
- with it.
-
- I want to hook it up to a Sun 3/50 and use it as the boot disk. I was
- able to bring up MUNIX from a boot tape, and it saw the drive as sd2.
- After formatting and partitioning the disk I tried copying the miniroot
- to sd2b and kept getting "no device" errors. When I do a dkinfo on the
- sd2 device (from MUNIX) I get:
-
- Micropolis MD21 @addr 140000 unit #8
- a: blah blah blah
- b: blah blah blah
- c: blah blah blah
- g: blah blah blah
-
- The 'unit #8' doesn't look quite right to me. I used '8' as the unit when
- I copied miniroot to sd2b and things went fine. I was able to install the
- SunOS without errors. But, when I tried rebooting (using sd(0,2,0) vmunix)
- I get 'No Device' errors.
-
- How can I make the system 'see' the drive at boot time, and I'd like to
- make the drive sd0 while I'm at it. Anyone know the right jumpers to 'jump'
- or 'unjump?'
